About Us

KBD Automation GmbH (KBD) is an independent and autonomous engineering company based in Cologne. As part of the Biele Group, we share over 50 years of industry experience in the metal sector. If you’re looking for solutions related to the packaging and commissioning of service center products made from ferrous and non-ferrous metals, you’ve come to the right place. Thanks to the decades of experience within our group, we can implement not only individual systems but also complex packaging lines.

Our Journey

The foundation stone for KBD Automation GmbH was laid back in 2003. With the establishment of Konstruktionsbüro Demidko (KBD), highly motivated engineers and designers began developing and designing specialised systems for a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on the metal industry.

In 2012, the next step followed with the founding of KBD Engineering GmbH. From that point on, systems were delivered to customers as turnkey solutions. As a full-service provider, we handled everything—from concept to commissioning and service of the turnkey system. Since then, in addition to participating in funded research projects, we have successfully delivered many systems.

After the challenges of 2020–2022, which demanded a great deal from both the economy and society, a forward-looking decision was made in 2023. The newly founded KBD Automation GmbH is now led by a new generation of managing directors, ready to face the profound changes in the industry.

Since the end of 2024, the company has been part of the Biele Group and is now excellently positioned for a successful future.
